Creative e-vangelism |
Think for a moment about God's timing. During the period of history between Malachi and Matthew, God put in place the first common world language: Greek. A short time later, the Romans were the first to develop a system of roads and towns all over Europe and the Middle East. God used both to pave the way for the introduction of His Son, Jesus Christ, and provide a means to effectively spread the Good News throughout the world. I truly believe we live in another significant time. According to Technorati (web traffic measurement) there are 150 million websites and 100 million blogs in existence today. Not a bad increase from 0 websites and 0 blogs just 15 years ago. It took radio 38 years of growth to reach 50 million people. Television took only 13 years to reach the same number. The Internet took just 4 years to reach 50 million people. Apple sold 50 million iPods in just 3 years. After 2 years of general use, Facebook connected 50 million people, and it took Google only 20 days to conduct 50 million searches. We live in exponential times. Over the next few weeks, we want to share with you different ways of using simple technology and social networking to be more intentional about giving people an opportunity to respond to the hope, forgiveness, and life found only in Jesus. |
| NEEDHIM.org WEBSITE |
One of the easiest ideas is simply pointing people to the new NeedHim.org website. After 10 years, we recently completed a radical redesign. In fact, the revised site was designed by a creative team of young men and women who aren’t Christians. It has been tested and tweaked using focus groups comprised of people who aren’t Christians. They love how it’s simple, not distracting, and how it allows the user to create their own experience. It has already been nominated for “Best Website” by the National Religious Broadcasters Association. Each day, we get feedback from people linking to us. Most people are finding us through Google in addition to more than 3,000 ministries linking to the site. The most frequently visited pages on the site are Consider It, Facebook, and Chat. Here are a few suggestions for using NeedHim.org which will give you a safe way to start a conversation about Jesus: • Use it in your signature when you send out email. We welcome the opportunity to speak to them. • Mention it on your Facebook page. We will be happy to chat with them. • Post it as a Twitter message. We will be sharing more about this soon. • Print it on your Christmas cards. • Be extra-creative and don’t send the exact web address but use http://tinyurl.com/lvc2rg instead. Clicking this “tiny URL” link will redirect them to our site, but the link itself looks more mysterious. Another link is FindSomePeace.com which also redirects to Need Him. We invite you to partner with us. Think outside the box and send us some of your creative ways for using technology and social networking to intentionally share Jesus and provide people an opportunity to start the conversation. In the next few weeks we will be sharing ideas on how you can use Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and iTunes to easily engage someone and help them start their journey to Him. |
